Trouble are awesome. When they first showed up in the early 80's they were written off as being "too late" with their slow, Sabbathy tunage. As it turns out, they were actually too soon as they, along with Saint Vitus and Witchfinder General would go on to influence the modern "doom" genre. This is one of their more "up-tempo" numbers. It's got some pep in it's step. Discharge. Seriously, if you don't know Discharge you need to get familiar with them - at least everything up to 1984. Bastardator remind me of early Venom and Voivod. Sloppy and thick with an excellent bass tone. I had never heard of Russian Circles until a few weeks ago when I saw that my old pal Sam had them "liked" on Facebook. So I checked them out and am so happy I did. Holy shit. Warhammer are a blatant Hellhammer ripoff / dedication. Down to the shitty guitar solos and Swiss accent. How can you not love that? Speaking of which . . . I threw Black Breath on here after Entombed, Carnage and Dismember because they sound dead on like early 90's Swedish death metal. I hope it's more a cheeky "dedication" and less "aping". Regardless, I really dig those dudes. Finally we have Angel Witch, the unsung progenitor of thrash and speedmetal. The "big 4" owe a LOT to Angel Witch who, sadly, went absolutely nowhere other than into infamy....
